相信神,就会使他越过千百万的人来到你面前
I do not consider, brethren, that I have captured and made it my own yet; but one thing I do [it is my one aspiration]: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the supreme and heavenly prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward. ~Philippians 3:13-14~

quotable quote 3 (andrew murray)

bloom
I was immediately alert, trying to repeat the vision, but to no avail, of course.
It was a close-up, sharp black and white picture of a rose that filled my entire field of vision, each petal clear and separate (the closest to what i saw):
and as i questioned the Lord what this is about, it was as if i was 'zooming in' further. The picture changed somewhat and i saw within the centre of the rose little rosebuds growing.
I heard within my spirit the word 'bloom'.
I checked the web for the following definitions - very heartening:
- blooming: the organic process of bearing flowers; "you will stop all bloom if you let the flowers go to seed"
- flower: reproductive organ of angiosperm plants especially one having showy or colorful parts
- the best time of youth
- a rosy color (especially in the cheeks) taken as a sign of good health
- flower: the period of greatest prosperity or productivity
- produce or yield flowers; "The cherry tree bloomed"
- efflorescence: a powdery deposit on a surface

precious God-moments
I see God's hand in her life, and how she has matured and grown in the Lord as she serves Him and the people in the nation she and her husband are sent to. We talked and talked till we forgot the time, and she was late for her next appointment.
What was most enjoyable and beautiful about our time together was talking about God-moments in our lives:
- how God brought us together 8 years ago
- how our relationship changed from a special, unique mentoring relationship to a precious, treasured friendship
- how God spoke to us about the 'next steps' in our lives, and others around us - whether through dreams, visions or other people
- how he helped us understand our role as wives

prayer school series 2010 - part 1 (Reflections regarding prayer from Nehemiah)
Nehemiah turned to God for guidance regarding the wall of Jerusalem that had been broken down. He was sad but did not despair and was not despondent.
Hebrews 4:16
Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
Nehemiah was covered under the Old Covenant but we are in the New Covenant. We are people with the Spirit of God in us. How much more will our prayers prevail!
Nehemiah 1:4
When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven.
1. Nehemiah did not despair in the face of obstacles but always went to God in pray. He took time to listen to the Lord and repented before the Lord.
Nehemiah 2:4
The king said to me, "What is it you want?" Then I prayed to the God of heaven,
2. He prayed when the king asked him what he wanted.
Nehemiah 2:12
I set out during the night with a few men. I had not told anyone what my God had put in my heart to do for Jerusalem.
3. He told no one – it was between him and God.
Nehemiah 2:12-17
4. Even though there was something brewing, he waited for God’s timing.
Nehemiah 2:20
I answered them by saying, "The God of heaven will give us success....”
5. He was ready to give an answer when questioned.
Like Nehemiah, we can depend on the wisdom of the Lord. When we do that our mind is freed up and things becomes clearer.
In prayer time, the Lord begins to download His plans to us. He smoothens the path and prepares the way for us.
PRAYER is SO SO SO important!
(notes taken by a student when i taught the above at prayer school.)

renewing our minds
I'm not really one who would remember a plot of any movie in great detail. Usually as i watched a movie the second time around, i would just vaguely remember yes this did happen, not being one who would anticipate what is going to happen, at least not for all the scenes, unless it made a great impact on me.
Anyway, somehow as the movie came on, i changed my mind. And third time round, i understood the movie better, having seen the sequels.
I also saw strong parallels between our life in the spirit, or our walk in God, and Neo's induction into the Matrix, as he discovered of the elaborate facade set up by artificial intelligence, and the revelation he received through his various encounters and observations (without taking into consideration the even stronger parallels with new age-ism).
Two things struck me:
- Training was required, and Neo had to learn how the matrix works and what to watch out for. Although he was gifted, he still had to develop his inherent abilities. The results he achieved does not seem to commensurate with the effort he put in. In other words, his effort yielded much more results. This is likened to God's grace and gift in us, so that as we work with our heavenly Father, being rooted and established in Jesus, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we can achieve so much more.
- Towards the end of the movie, when Neo finally sees things as they really are, he, as predicted earlier by Morpheus, did not need to dodge bullets anymore. Instead, he stopped them in mid-air, as the bullets hurled towards him, plucked one from mid-air, as if to demonstrate his new-found awareness, and the rest of the tiny missiles, now rendered useless, just fell to the ground. He had renewed his mind, no longer allowing his old perceptions to trouble him (as they first did, when he struggled to make sense of the deception, even delusion he had been living in), no longer immersed in his previous habitual worldview and orientation. He saw the truth and reality of the situation: the men and their powerful weapons were merely codes. In the same way, we need to, as believers, to see God for who He is, ourselves for who we really are, and our situations for what they really are. These are contained in the Word of God. Only then will we have victory as promised in the Word.
