quotes on prayer

I recently came across three wonderful inspiring quotes on prayer by three methodist ministers. Actually these were emailed to me by my husband who knew that i was preparing texts for prayer cards and prayer bulletins for my church in the next few months.

The first is by James Hudson Taylor (1832-1905), whose father was a methodist pastor. He himself became a missionary to China for a total of 51 years, and later founded China Inland Mission.
"It is possible to move men, through God, by prayer alone."

The next is by E. Stanley Jones (1884-1973), a Methodist theologian and missionary to India. Considered the Billy Graham of India, he was a great influence in the political leadership of India, and spent time with Mahatma Gandhi and the Nehru family.
"Prayer is aligning ourselves with the purposes of God."

EM (Edward McKendree) Bounds (1835-1913) was a Methodist minister and devotional writer. Known to many as a prophet on prayer, he cried out for holiness in the church that would set the body of Christ praying. He would spend 4 hours daily in prayer before he began his work.
"What the Church needs today is not more machinery or better, not new organizations or more and novel methods, but men whom the Holy Ghost can use -- men of prayer, men mighty in prayer. The Holy Ghost does not flow through methods, but through men. He does not come on machinery, but on men. He does not anoint plans, but men -- men of prayer."

I'm inspired to see more of God in my life as i pray and discover His will and plan for my life.
