Jesus healed them all (part 10): the healing of the syrophoenician woman's daughter

Mark 7:24-30
24Jesus left that place and went to the vicinity of Tyre. He entered a house and did not want anyone to know it; yet he could not keep his presence secret. 25In fact, as soon as she heard about him, a woman whose little daughter was possessed by an evil spirit came and fell at his feet. 26The woman was a Greek, born in Syrian Phoenicia. She begged Jesus to drive the demon out of her daughter. 27"First let the children eat all they want," he told her, "for it is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to their dogs." 28"Yes, Lord," she replied, "but even the dogs under the table eat the children's crumbs." 29Then he told her, "For such a reply, you may go; the demon has left your daughter." 30She went home and found her child lying on the bed, and the demon gone.

Matthew 15:21-31

21Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. 22A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is suffering terribly from demon-possession." 23Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, "Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us." 24He answered, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel." 25The woman came and knelt before him. "Lord, help me!" she said. 26He replied, "It is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to their dogs." 27"Yes, Lord," she said, "but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' table." 28Then Jesus answered, "Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted." And her daughter was healed from that very hour.

29Jesus left there and went along the Sea of Galilee. Then he went up on a mountainside and sat down. 30Great crowds came to him, bringing the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute and many others, and laid them at his feet; and he healed them. 31The people were amazed when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled made well, the lame walking and the blind seeing. And they praised the God of Israel.
  1. Humility makes adjustments.
  2. Humility does not take offence.
  3. Humility helped her persist.
  4. Humility receives the grace of God.
  5. Her humble reply to the Lord demonstrated great faith in the healing power of God.

Jesus healed them all (part 9): the healing of the two blind men

Matthew 9:27-31 (New Living Translation)
27 After Jesus left the girl’s home, two blind men followed along behind him, shouting, “Son of David, have mercy on us!” 28 They went right into the house where he was staying, and Jesus asked them, “Do you believe I can make you see?” “Yes, Lord,” they told him, “we do.” 29 Then he touched their eyes and said, “Because of your faith, it will happen.” 30 Then their eyes were opened, and they could see! Jesus sternly warned them, “Don’t tell anyone about this.” 31 But instead, they went out and spread his fame all over the region.
  1. Our faith is based on the Word of God, not on anything we or others experience or say.
  2. "Son of David" is a term that identifies Jesus as the One who should come, and recognises that He is the fulfillment of the prophecies. It is a term which demonstrates their faith.
  3. Matthew 22:41-42 --> Then, surrounded by the Pharisees, Jesus asked them a question: “What do you think about the Messiah? Whose son is he?” They replied, “He is the son of David." The term also means Messiah (the Saviour or deliverer) or Christ (The Anointed One).
  4. What do we believe? That it is impossible or possible for us to be healed? We must believe what the Word of God says.
  5. Some of us indulge in self-pity and think that we don't deserve what we are suffering. The bible tells us that the wages of sin is death, and all have sinned. So we deserve death, yet God is rich in mercy and grace and reaches down to us to save us. We need mercy because we do wrong. Because of His mercy, we don't reap all that we sow. Because of Jesus' sacrifice, we can come to Him and receive His rich mercy.
  6. Philippians 2:25-29 --> 25 Yet I considered it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, fellow worker, and fellow soldier, but your messenger and the one who ministered to my need; 26 since he was longing for you all, and was distressed because you had heard that he was sick. 27 For indeed he was sick almost unto death; but God had mercy on him, and not only on him but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow. 28 Therefore I sent him the more eagerly, that when you see him again you may rejoice, and I may be less sorrowful. 29 Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness, and hold such men in esteem;
    In healing a person, God is not only showing mercy to that individual but all around him - his family and friends.
  7. Faith is persistent. Faith won't quit or give up.
  8. The two blind men took the initiative. Many of the individuals in these 19 cases presented in the gospel were determined to get healing. They were not deterred. They broke the roof, pushed through a crowd to touch His garment, shouted to get Jesus' attention, fell before Him in humility...
  9. Not all are saved, but it is God's will for all to be saved. 1 Timothy 2:3-4 --> 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
  10. Not all are healed but it is God's will for all to be healed. Jesus took stripes upon His back for our healing. (1 Peter 2:24)
  11. Jesus said: Because of YOUR FAITH. Another translation says: ACCORDING TO YOUR FAITH. Another says: YOUR REWARD WILL BE EQUAL TO YOUR FAITH.
  12. The blind men had faith and were instantly healed when Jesus touched their eyes. In the same way, we can receive our healing when we have faith.

Jesus healed them all (part 8): the healing of the woman with the issue of blood

Matthew 9:20-22 (NIV)
20Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak. 21She said to herself, "If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed." 22Jesus turned and saw her. "Take heart, daughter," he said, "your faith has healed you." And the woman was healed from that moment.

Luke 8:42-48 (NIV)
As Jesus was on his way, the crowds almost crushed him. 43And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her. 44She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped. 45"Who touched me?" Jesus asked. When they all denied it, Peter said, "Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you." 46But Jesus said, "Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me." 47Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed. 48Then he said to her, "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace."

Mark 5:25-35
A large crowd followed and pressed around him. 25And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. 26She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse. 27When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, 28because she thought, "If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed." 29Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering. 30At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, "Who touched my clothes?" 31"You see the people crowding against you," his disciples answered, "and yet you can ask, 'Who touched me?' " 32But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. 33Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. 34He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering."
  1. God can fix the body as well as recreate the human spirit and bring renewal to the the soul. God can heal ANYTHING.
  2. We need to ask in faith: we have not because we ask not.
  3. We see here that sickness robbed the woman of all her money. She spent all she had.
  4. Doctors do help us get better, but our faith is not in doctors. We can go to the doctor but believe God for healing. We never take our eyes off God and onto doctors. We fix our eyes (even in other areas of our lives like finance) on God alone, and not on man to provide or heal, or deals/medicines to provide or heal. We thank God for doctors, but God is our healer.
  5. 2 Chronicles 16:12-13 - Asaph sought help only from the doctors for the disease in his feet; he did not put his trust in God. He died as a result
  6. There are natural remedies that work for our bodies. Paul told Timothy to take a little wine.
  7. Hezekiah was actually supposed to die from his sickness, but he repented and turned to the Lord. The Lord heard his cry and had mercy on him. Isaiah who earlier prophesied his death, heard from the Lord again about using a poultice to apply to the boil, and he recovered. (Isaiah 38)
  8. The bible teaches against preaching diets. (1 Timothy 4:1-4) These diets could be personal in that the Holy Spirit shows us what is good for our individual body systems. People should be led by the Holy Spirit, and not focus on the diet or exercise regiment or follow someone. Still, God does give us wisdom regarding what to eat and what not to. These should not become our idols.
  9. We don't believe there is anything terminal or incurable as there is nothing impossible for our God.
  10. The woman pressed through and took her healing. In Mark 11;23-24, the word receive is akin to take. Faith is like the hand that receives or takes for ourselves.
  11. The woman drew upon the healing anointing.
  12. Faith told her ahead of time what she will receive.
  13. The healing anointing saturated the clothes that Jesus wore, but it was not the power alone that healed. The purposeful touch of faith took the power and Jesus felt the power leaving Him.
  14. Jesus emphasised that it was her faith that healed her, as her faith drew out the power of God. It is FAITH that receives or takes the healing anointing.
  15. If her faith made her whole, my faith can make me whole.

Jesus healed them all (review)

  1. We can walk in divine health.
  2. In the healing of the leper, we learn that God is willing to heal ALWAYS. Jesus says I WILL to us when we come to Him for healing.
  3. In the healing of Peter's mother- in-law, we see Jesus rebuke sickness and disease, which is the work of the enemy. In the same way, we can rebuke sickness and disease, commanding them to die, and expecting them to do so.
  4. We cannot let fear in. Instead, we need to believe.

Jesus healed them all (part 7): the healing of jairus' daughter

Matthew 9:18-19, 23-26
18 While He spoke these things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshiped Him, saying, “My daughter has just died, but come and lay Your hand on her and she will live.” 19 So Jesus arose and followed him, and so did His disciples.
23 When Jesus came into the ruler’s house, and saw the flute players and the noisy crowd wailing, 24 He said to them, “Make room, for the girl is not dead, but sleeping.” And they ridiculed Him. 25 But when the crowd was put outside, He went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose. 26 And the report of this went out into all that land.

Mark 5:21-24, 33-43
21 Now when Jesus had crossed over again by boat to the other side, a great multitude gathered to Him; and He was by the sea. 22 And behold, one of the rulers of the synagogue came, Jairus by name. And when he saw Him, he fell at His feet 23 and begged Him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter lies at the point of death. Come and lay Your hands on her, that she may be healed, and she will live.” 24 So Jesus went with him, and a great multitude followed Him and thronged Him.
35 While He was still speaking, some came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house who said, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?”
36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid; only believe.” 37 And He permitted no one to follow Him except Peter, James, and John the brother of James. 38 Then He came to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and saw a tumult and those who wept and wailed loudly. 39 When He came in, He said to them, “Why make this commotion and weep? The child is not dead, but sleeping.”
40 And they ridiculed Him. But when He had put them all outside, He took the father and the mother of the child, and those who were with Him, and entered where the child was lying. 41 Then He took the child by the hand, and said to her, “Talitha, cumi,” which is translated, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.” 42 Immediately the girl arose and walked, for she was twelve years of age. And they were overcome with great amazement. 43 But He commanded them strictly that no one should know it, and said that something should be given her to eat.

Luke 8:40-42, 49-56
40 So it was, when Jesus returned, that the multitude welcomed Him, for they were all waiting for Him. 41 And behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue. And he fell down at Jesus’ feet and begged Him to come to his house, 42 for he had an only daughter about twelve years of age, and she was dying.
But as He went, the multitudes thronged Him.
49 While He was still speaking, someone came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, “Your daughter is dead. Do not trouble the Teacher.”
50 But when Jesus heard it, He answered him, saying, “Do not be afraid; only believe, and she will be made well.” 51 When He came into the house, He permitted no one to go in except Peter, James, and John, and the father and mother of the girl. 52 Now all wept and mourned for her; but He said, “Do not weep; she is not dead, but sleeping.” 53 And they ridiculed Him, knowing that she was dead.
54 But He put them all outside, took her by the hand and called, saying, “Little girl, arise.” 55 Then her spirit returned, and she arose immediately. And He commanded that she be given something to eat. 56 And her parents were astonished, but He charged them to tell no one what had happened.
  1. Jairus had a positive attitude. He had faith, saying that his daughter WILL live when Jesus lays His hand upon her.
  2. If you say what God says, He will do what you say.
  3. Confession means 'saying the same thing.'
  4. Jairus was the ruler of the synagogue. He had authority and control, but he was humble in his approach to Jesus. He did not command Jesus or tell Him what to do. Instead he was at Jesus feet and pleading with Him earnestly for Jesus to come.

Jesus healed them all (part 6): the healing of the centurion's servant

Matthew 8:5-13 (AMP)
5As Jesus went into Capernaum, a centurion came up to Him, begging Him, 6And saying, Lord, my servant boy is lying at the house paralyzed and distressed with intense pains. 7And Jesus said to him, I will come and restore him. 8But the centurion replied to Him, Lord, I am not worthy or fit to have You come under my roof; but only speak the word, and my servant boy will be cured. 9For I also am a man subject to authority, with soldiers subject to me. And I say to one, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my slave, Do this, and he does it. 10When Jesus heard him, He marveled and said to those who followed Him who adhered steadfastly to Him, conforming to His example in living and, if need be, in dying also], I tell you truly, I have not found so much faith as this with anyone, even in Israel. 11I tell you, many will come from east and west, and will sit at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven, 12While the sons and heirs of the kingdom will be driven out into the darkness outside, where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth. 13Then to the centurion Jesus said, Go; it shall be done for you as you have believed. And the servant boy was restored to health at that very moment.

Luke 7:1-10 (New Living Translation)
1 When Jesus had finished saying all this to the people, he returned to Capernaum. 2 At that time the highly valued slave of a Roman officer was sick and near death. 3 When the officer heard about Jesus, he sent some respected Jewish elders to ask him to come and heal his slave. 4 So they earnestly begged Jesus to help the man. “If anyone deserves your help, he does,” they said, 5 “for he loves the Jewish people and even built a synagogue for us.”

6 So Jesus went with them. But just before they arrived at the house, the officer sent some friends to say, “Lord, don’t trouble yourself by coming to my home, for I am not worthy of such an honor. 7 I am not even worthy to come and meet you. Just say the word from where you are, and my servant will be healed. 8 I know this because I am under the authority of my superior officers, and I have authority over my soldiers. I only need to say, ‘Go,’ and they go, or ‘Come,’ and they come. And if I say to my slaves, ‘Do this,’ they do it.” 9 When Jesus heard this, he was amazed. Turning to the crowd that was following him, he said, “I tell you, I haven’t seen faith like this in all Israel!” 10 And when the officer’s friends returned to his house, they found the slave completely healed.

  1. It is God's will to save and to heal, but not all are saved or healed. This does not change His will. Instead it demonstrates our free will to receive or not receive.
  2. Jesus is the express or manifest will of God in action. He does only what His heavenly Father does. He said in verse 7: "I will come and restore him".
  3. The centurion was a disciplined soldier who understood military hierarchy, authority and submission in the natural, and he applied it to the supernatural.
  4. Just as his subordinates would obey his word when he commanded them, he believed that in the same way, sickness and disease would have to leave at the command of Jesus.
  5. He was also an honourable man who had contributed to the building of a synagogue, to the extent the Jews spoke up for him.
  6. His obedience was pleasing to the Lord, giving the Lord a legal right to bless him. Note that our obedience does not earn God's blessings.
  7. The reason this man was commended for having great faith was that he did not ask for a sign to see or to feel. He did not go by his physical senses. He just asked for Jesus for His word and he believed. That is great faith.

Jesus healed them all (part 5): the healing of the man with the withered hand

Matthew 12:10-16 (AMP)
10
And behold, a man was there with one withered hand. And they said to Him, Is it lawful or allowable to cure people on the Sabbath days?--that they might accuse Him. 11But He said to them, What man is there among you, if he has only one sheep and it falls into a pit or ditch on the Sabbath, will not take hold of it and lift it out? 12How much better and of more value is a man than a sheep! So it is lawful and allowable to do good on the Sabbath days. 13Then He said to the man, Reach out your hand. And the man reached it out and it was restored, as sound as the other one. 14But the Pharisees went out and held a consultation against Him, how they might do away with Him. 15But being aware of this, Jesus went away from there. And many people joined and accompanied Him, and He cured all of them, 16And strictly charged them and sharply warned them not to make Him publicly known.

Mark 3:1-6 (AMP)
1AGAIN JESUS went into a synagogue, and a man was there who had one withered hand [as the result of accident or disease]. 2And [the Pharisees] kept watching Jesus [closely] to see whether He would cure him on the Sabbath, so that they might get a charge to bring against Him [formally]. 3And He said to the man who had the withered hand, Get up [and stand here] in the midst. 4And He said to them, Is it lawful and right on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or to take it? But they kept silence. 5And He glanced around at them with vexation and anger, grieved at the hardening of their hearts, and said to the man, Hold out your hand. He held it out, and his hand was [completely] restored. 6Then the Pharisees went out and immediately held a consultation with the Herodians against Him, how they might [devise some means to] put Him to death.

Luke 6:6-11 (AMP)
6And it occurred on another Sabbath that when He went into the synagogue and taught, a man was present whose right hand was withered. 7And the scribes and the Pharisees kept watching Jesus to see whether He would [actually] heal on the Sabbath, in order that they might get [some ground for] accusation against Him. 8But He was aware all along of their thoughts, and He said to the man with the withered hand, Come and stand here in the midst. And he arose and stood there. 9Then Jesus said to them, I ask you, is it lawful and right on the Sabbath to do good [so that someone derives advantage from it] or to do evil, to save a life [and make a soul safe] or to destroy it? 10Then He glanced around at them all and said to the man, Stretch out your hand! And he did so, and his hand was fully restored like the other one. 11But they were filled with lack of understanding and senseless rage and discussed (consulted) with one another what they might do to Jesus.
  1. Jesus asked the man to stretch forth his hand - something which the man COULD NOT DO in the natural as his hand was withered.
  2. The man did not refuse or even question Jesus' sanity. He stretched out as told, and the act of obedience, a consequence of faith, resulted in full restoration of his hand.

Jesus healed them all (part 4): the healing of the nobleman's son

John 4:46-54
46
So Jesus came again to Cana of Galilee where He had made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum. 47 When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and implored Him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. 48 Then Jesus said to him, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will by no means believe.” 49 The nobleman said to Him, “Sir, come down before my child dies!” 50 Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your son lives.” So the man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way. 51 And as he was now going down, his servants met him and told him, saying, “Your son lives!” 52 Then he inquired of them the hour when he got better. And they said to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.” 53 So the father knew that it was at the same hour in which Jesus said to him, “Your son lives.” And he himself believed, and his whole household. 54 This again is the second sign Jesus did when He had come out of Judea into Galilee.
  1. Humility is displayed by the nobleman, unlike another instance in the bible where Naaman the leper (2 Kings 5:1-19) was upset with the man of God who refused to see him and just asked him to dip 7 times in the River Jordan. Naaman had to be persuaded to do as he was told.
  2. We need to believe before we see. Mark 11:23-24 shows us that the nobleman started home in faith even before he saw or knew that his boy lived. At the word of Jesus, he believed and walked back.
  3. Jesus did what the Father told him, not what people asked him to do. In the same way, we need to do what the Holy Spirit tells us to do.
  4. The boy was healed the very hour Jesus spoke his healing, the very instant the nobleman believed and obeyed what Jesus told him to do.
  5. We give God the glory, not just gloss over the work He has done in our lives as coincidence.
  6. When we minister healing, we hook up with the faith of the person, we start with what they can believe in.
Personal Confession
  1. i will be okay. I will be well.
  2. I have faith to believe because I am standing on the Word of God.
  3. Faith is the victory that overcomes the world. I can overcome this sickness because of the Word of God in my life.

Jesus healed them all (part 3): the healing of the paralytic

Matthew 9:2-8
2 Then behold, they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you.” 3 And at once some of the scribes said within themselves, “This Man blasphemes!” 4 But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts? 5 For which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Arise and walk’? 6 But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—then He said to the paralytic, “Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” 7 And he arose and departed to his house. 8 Now when the multitudes saw it, they marveled and glorified God, who had given such power to men.

Mark 2"1-11
1 And again He entered Capernaum after some days, and it was heard that He was in the house. 2 Immediately many gathered together, so that there was no longer room to receive them, not even near the door. And He preached the word to them. 3 Then they came to Him, bringing a paralytic who was carried by four men. 4 And when they could not come near Him because of the crowd, they uncovered the roof where He was. So when they had broken through, they let down the bed on which the paralytic was lying. 5 When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.” 6 And some of the scribes were sitting there and reasoning in their hearts, 7 “Why does this Man speak blasphemies like this? Who can forgive sins but God alone?” 8 But immediately, when Jesus perceived in His spirit that they reasoned thus within themselves, He said to them, “Why do you reason about these things in your hearts? 9 Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Arise, take up your bed and walk’? 10 But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—He said to the paralytic, 11 “I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” 12 Immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went out in the presence of them all, so that all were amazed and glorified God, saying, “We never saw anything like this!

Luke 5:17-26
17 Now it happened on a certain day, as He was teaching, that there were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting by, who had come out of every town of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was present to heal them. 18 Then behold, men brought on a bed a man who was paralyzed, whom they sought to bring in and lay before Him. 19 And when they could not find how they might bring him in, because of the crowd, they went up on the housetop and let him down with his bed through the tiling into the midst before Jesus. 20 When He saw their faith, He said to him, “Man, your sins are forgiven you.” 21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, “Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?” 22 But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, He answered and said to them, “Why are you reasoning in your hearts? 23 Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Rise up and walk’? 24 But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—He said to the man who was paralyzed, “I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” 25 Immediately he rose up before them, took up what he had been lying on, and departed to his own house, glorifying God. 26 And they were all amazed, and they glorified God and were filled with fear, saying, “We have seen strange things today!”
  1. Why did Jesus focus on forgiving his sins? Often, condemnation keeps us from having faith because of guilt. Praise God we are forgiven all our sins and we are righteous and come boldly before the throne of grace.
  2. Jesus forgives sins AS EASILY AS heals our sicknesses and diseases. This is what he demonstrated - He had the power to forgive sins AND to heal!!
  3. The faith of the four friends were persistant. They did not give up till they saw the fulfillment of their belief.

Jesus healed them all (part 2): the healing of Peter's mother in law

Matthew 8:14-15
14When Jesus came into Peter's house, he saw Peter's mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever. 15He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to wait on him.

Mark 1:29-31
29As soon as they left the synagogue, they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew. 30Simon's mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they told Jesus about her. 31So he went to her, took her hand and helped her up. The fever left her and she began to wait on them.

Luke 4:38-39
38Jesus left the synagogue and went to the home of Simon. Now Simon's mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked Jesus to help her. 39So he bent over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. She got up at once and began to wait on them.
  1. Things can turn around quickly.
  2. When faith meets with anointing, healing takes places immediately.
  3. Jesus touched her or rebuked the fever, it left her immediately so that she could get up and serve them.
  4. We speak to situations in our lives just as Jesus spoke to the fever to leave.
  5. Light is greater than darkness, healing is more powerful than sickness, and Life overcomes Death.

Jesus healed them all (part 1): the healing of the leper

Matthew 8:1-4
1When he came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him. 2A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, "Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean." 3Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. "I am willing," he said. "Be clean!" Immediately he was cured of his leprosy. 4Then Jesus said to him, "See that you don't tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift Moses commanded, as a testimony to them."

Luke 5:12-15
12While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came along who was covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and begged him, "Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean." 13Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. "I am willing," he said. "Be clean!" And immediately the leprosy left him. 14Then Jesus ordered him, "Don't tell anyone, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them." 15Yet the news about him spread all the more, so that crowds of people came to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses.
  1. The leper came to Jesus, not to anyone else. He knew Who could help him and heal him.
  2. He knelt, falling before Jesus with his face to the ground. This was humility. He put aside his pride and came to the One who could heal him.
  3. Jesus revealed that not only had He the ability to heal, he WAS WILLING to heal. We see here that healing is God's idea. Jesus initiated healing. He taught, preached and healed. People heard and came to him. We don't have to convince God to heal us.
  4. Jesus touched him, even when he was full of leprosy and unclean. Jesus touched him and made him whole. The healing anointing flowed to him and healed him.

Jesus healed them all (introduction): the role of faith

I'm currently listening to an excellent teaching series by Rev KM. I'm taking notes and thought i'd share on my blog.

Recorded in the Gospels are 19 individual cases of healings which are more detailed. Of course there are others who have been delivered and multitudes who have been healed.

There seems to be an emphasis on the faith of the individual in many of the cases. Their faith is specifically referred to as the determining factor in their healing.
  1. The nobleman's son was healed because the nobleman believed the word and went his way.
  2. The paralytic's faith was seen by Jesus and he was healed.
  3. The Centurion believed for his servant's healing, and it was done according to what he believed.
  4. The woman with the issue of blood had faith that made her whole.
  5. Jesus told the 2 blind men: "according to your faith, be it done to you"
  6. The 10 lepers had faith that made them whole
  7. Blind Bartimaeus' faith made him whole
  8. The SyroPhoenician woman's daughter was healed because the mother believed.

unlimited and unbounded

My faith is not limited by a clock,

nor bound by a timetable.

God will surely fulfill what He has promised,

in fact,

above and beyond what we ask,

as Ephesians 3:20-21 shows:

20Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine,
according to his power that is at work within us,

to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations,
for ever and ever! Amen.
